A highly awarded and very popular wine first produced in 1999. It has a rich and powerful aroma and palate of blackberries, toast and sweet fruit. The wine is well balanced with fresh rich fruit, soft tannins, has a long dry finish and is suitable for mid-term cellaring. A classic McLaren Vale Shiraz which benefits from a period of decanting.

winemaking
This wine is made from Shiraz fruit from our best McLaren Vale vineyards, including the Short Row block adjacent to our Cellar Door.
The fruit was fermented on skins for 8 - 10 days in open fermenters prior to pressing, with 60% of the wine undergoing barrel fermentation.
Maturation was in varying proportions of new and one year old French and American oak barrels.
The components are selected for blending based on fruit intensity, richness and integration of oak.
