Fox Creek Wines Pty LtdOur Wines

Verdelho

This popular wine is made from imported vines from the island of Madiera where the famous sweet wine of that name is made. This is a lovely fresh wine with a strong aroma of lime and tropical fruits. The dominant flavour is of intense lime with a creamy texture and long finish.

Fox Creek 2001 Verdelho

appearance
Pale straw/ gold with green tints.

bouquet
Ripe tropical lime/pineapple fruit with floral notes and cashew nut creaminess complemented by vanilla from the partial barrel fermentation.

palate
The tropical characters of pineapple and lime, in particular, show strongly on the palate along with the vanilla creaminess noted in the bouquet. The palate finishes with great length and is balanced by crisp acid.

winemaking
The fruit for this wine was sourced from two vineyards and was harvested on 21st February at 13° Baumé and 23rd February at 13.5° Baumé. About one quarter of this wine underwent primary fermentation in oak barrels. The aim of this was to increase the textural complexing of the resultant blend.
