A very popular wine with a rich powerful aroma and palate of blackberries and sweet fruit. The wine is well balanced, with soft tannins and has a dry, long finish. A very high quality second Shiraz.
Vintages:
appearance
Very deep red with vibrant ruby rim.
bouquet
Powerful aromatics of blackberry, licorice and all spice. The subtle lifted vanilla from barrel fermentation adds complexity.
palate
Typical of our best parcels of McLaren Vale Shiraz, showing strong vibrant black fruit with richness that is achieved only in a region such as this.
The depth and intensity of the palate is well balanced by a firm tannin structure. The finish shows great length and has supporting acid sufficient to allow for mid term cellaring.
winemaking
This wine is made from 100% Shiraz fruit sourced from the 'Short Row' block, adjacent to our Cellar Door. The vine trellising is in the Scott Henry fashion (named for the creator of this technique), which allows us to obtain maximum and balanced light exposure throughout the growing season.
The fruit was fermented on skins for 7 days prior to pressing, with 20% of the wine undergoing barrel fermentation.
Maturation was in 85% one year old American oak the balance being in two year old French oak from Allier.
