This popular wine is made from imported vines originally from the island of Madiera. It is a dry wine with lovely fresh aromas of lime, pineapple and tropical fruits. The dominant flavour is of lime and citrus with a creamy texture and a long finish.
Vintages:
appearance
Brilliant, with light green tints.
bouquet
Strong pineapple with tropical fruits, lifted spice and vanilla creaminess as a result of partial oak fermentation.
palate
Pineapple and lime are the dominant characters, together with a generous creamy texture and refreshing feijoa flavours.
winemaking
This was a moderately warm growing season with a steady ripening throughout the summer. Flavour development was earlier than usual, giving flavours intensity at moderate sugar levels. Around 25% of the wine was fermented in two year old French and American oak to provide additional complexity on the palate.

ageing potential
This wine is suited for early drinking and will retain fresh fruit characters for the next year. Verdelho wines can develop well with age, but we make this wine to be enjoyed whilst it is relatively young.
